  Kindergarten News Thank you Thank you so much for all of the parents that were able to come to Sarett with us. We learned about different kinds of animals and what they do to get food and stay safe. We also took a walk and listened for birds, noticed plants, and looked for signs of animals. ELA This week students are identifying cause and effect in pictures and in text.  We learned that the words "if" and “so” are signal words to help us find “cause and effect”.  We also practiced making connections to deepen our understanding of the text.   Our spelling words are: yet, tip, vet, van, Val, hug Math   Students are identifying shapes as flat (2D) or solid (3D) as they build and sort shapes.  They are learning the names of common 3 dimensional shapes.  Students were also introduced to the language to compare weight and capacity.         Kindergarten Announcements **I apologize for not getting a post out last week.** Sarett Nature Center On Friday, April 21st, we will be leaving Lincoln at 9am and will arrive at Sarett shortly after.  Our program begins at 9:30.  You are welcome to meet us at the nature center if you were not assigned to this trip.   Remember that adults will have to pay the field trip fee of $3.  We have already paid for all students.  ELA Students learned to compare and contrast in photographs and text by determining important signal words such as too, also, both, and but.  This week we compared and contrasted how children lived in the past with how we live now. We made connections with the Magic Tree House book we read about Jack and Annie visiting a one-room school. We worked with the letter Jj, digraphs, and blends, and letter Kk, and s blends.                                            Kindergarten Announcements Welcome Back to School! We had a great week being back together after our spring break. It was fun to hear about everyone's vacations and relaxing time at home. Guest Readers Here is the link to our guest reader sign up. Guest Reader Sign Up ELA The class worked on fluency by reading Farm Animals from the Reader’s Theater.  They practiced using effective phrasing by reading short word groups and sentences as complete phrases which made their reading sound more like talking.  We also worked with the letter Ll and our spelling words are: bag, dad, let, lap, lid, lip Math   The students are seeing 11-19 images displayed on fingers and ten frames.
