ELA
This was our Reader’s Theater unit and we read a book called In the Sea. Students discussed the concept of animals that live in the ocean. They built academic and sight word vocabulary and practiced fluency through choral-reading. As they took turns reading, they listened for a variation of volume, stress, and pitch. We worked with the letter Gg and our spelling words are: men, bin, tag, get, bag, rag
Math
Students learned to connect equations with compositions and decompositions of 10 on 10 frames and fingers.
Writing
Students started opinion writing this week.
Science
Wild Weather (will do Monday):
We learned about weather prediction and storms! Your child heard a story about a boy named JJ who helped his grandfather get ready for a big thunderstorm. A weather report on TV told JJ’s grandfather that the storm was on its way.
Next time you want to find out what the weather will be like, consider inviting your child to check the weather with you — and take a look at “Weather Report for Kids” at https://kidsweatherreport.com/. Just enter your location and click "Get Weather". The weather report that comes up describes the weather in words and cartoon pictures, great for kids and grownups!
P2: Humor
This week we learned about how important it is to laugh and make people laugh, but never if it makes someone feel bad. We talked about things that make us laugh and saw how contagious laughing can be!
