      Kindergarten Announcements Assessment We finished up our NWEA tests last week and this week I will be spending some time one on one with each student doing their end of the year assessments. We will also be doing some whole class assessments as we prepare to send them on to 1st grade! Only 14 days of Kindergarten left!!!! All of your children have grown and learned so much this year. It is exciting to see how far they have come! ELA Readers are learning to draw conclusions using clues in a text and what they already know to figure out what the author does not state directly.  Drawing conclusions helps readers make sense of a text. Our spelling words are: fox, zap, zip, quiz, buzz, fuzz Math Students are counting out a given number of objects and determining the new amount if one more is added or if one is taken away.  Students count the objects each time or use their knowledge of the count sequence to determine the new amount. ...

        Kindergarten Announcements Thank you for an amazing teacher appreciation week!  I definitely feel loved! Happy Mother's Day!!!! ELA We performed Reader’s Theater this week and used characters’ words and actions to determine what they like and how they feel. Then we read aloud using “expression” to show understanding of the text and the characters.  Our spelling words are: sip, did, mix, box, fox, wax Math   Students are building with a given number of solid shapes. They are also comparing how some 2D shapes and 3D shapes are alike and different. Additionally, we enjoyed estimating a group of items using clues to narrow down the possibilities.    Writing Our writing skills are growing so much as we write in our journals and tell about how we feel and things we have done.       Science:  Plant Needs: Water and Light This week, we learned that plants and animals are alive! ...
