ELA

Students continued making inferences this week by reading a Big Book called Katy’s First Day. Students used clues from the text and the pictures to better understand Katy’s character. Our spelling words are: hat, sap, bat, bib

Math

Students learned to interpret expressions and connect expressions to story problems and drawings.  They also learned to find patterns when 0 and 1 are added to a number.

Writing

Students continued with their Personal Narratives and learned to write about feelings.

Social Studies

We are beginning to learn about basic economics by learning the difference between wants and needs, goods and services, and trades.

Science

Force Olympics:  We listened to a story about a boy who learns the secret to knocking down pins during bumper bowling.

P2: Kindness

When you do something kind for someone they are inspired to spread kindness too. Every human is worthy of care and compassion.  Keep spreading kindness to the world!

100 Day Project:

Please keep thinking about your 100th day projects! Our 100th day is next Monday!!!!

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Our spring parent/teacher conferences and the end of the 2nd trimester are coming up at the end of the month. During this time, teachers typically meet with only the parents of those students that we have a concern in some area. If I do not contact you about a conference, it is because your child is making good progress and is on track for 1st grade. If, however, you would like a conference no matter what, please email me and we can definitely set something up. I plan to contact parents by February 15th if I feel a conference is needed. Thank you!
