March is Reading Month

To kick off reading month we will have dress up days this week! Here is our schedule

ELA

Students read a nonfiction big book called Animals in Their Habitats and summarized important ideas using a graphic organizer.  We also learned about parts of a nonfiction book.  We learned how to use the Table of Contents and the Index.

Letter Ee was our focus this week and practiced decoding with the medial /e/ sound. Our spelling words are: rap, cab, met, pen, let, ten

Math

Students learned to show what happens in a story problem and solve it.  Students may distinguish between two groups by drawing pictures, separating the groups, using 2 different colors, using letters, words or numbers as labels.

Social Studies

Toys are goods that children wanted in the past and goods that children want now, in the present.  We learned about children in the past from photos of the toys they played with and compared/contrasted those toys with the toys we have now. .

Science

None

P2: Other People Mindset

Being present and giving others my attention means that when I’m with other people, I’m present and give them my full attention.  This helps us build positive relationships with others.

Upcoming events:

March 1:  Feb homework due

March 3: Half day of school- end of 2nd trimester

March 6: Trip to Planetarium (no parents)

April 21:  Field trip to Sarett Nature Center
