Kindergarten Announcements
THANK YOU!!!!
Thank you so much to all of the parents that helped with our gingerbread houses! Mrs. Edinger and Mrs. Mayberry helped put them together. Mrs. Blood and Mrs. Everhart helped put the finishing touches of "snow" around the outside. Mrs. Lehman, Mr. Dawson, Mrs. Deis, Mrs. Garces, and Mrs. Everhart helped us decorate! Thank you SO much for all of your donations too. The students had so much fun! Houses will be coming home early this week. If your student rides the bus, please plan on coming to pick up his/her house on Tuesday or Wednesday. Thank you!
ELA
This week we performed our “readers theater”. Our book was called Baby Animals. We practiced pausing at commas and coming to a full stop at periods and other ending marks. We learned several new sight words (sent home last week) and practiced taking turns reading aloud.
Math
We described and drew different shapes using dot paper. We found shapes around our classroom and even made shapes with straws and playdough.
Writing
We learned to use pictures to tell more about the story. Words can tell us some of the story but our pictures can show more details about the characters, setting, and plot.
Social Studies
The kindergarteners are gaining understanding about where they are in the world. We learned that St. Joseph is in the state of Michigan and that Michigan is in the United States. We looked at pictures of Michigan from a “bird’s eye view”.
Science
None
P2: Integrity
People with integrity do the right thing even when no one is looking. We spent many class meetings talking about this word and put this word into action.
Classroom needs:
Small disposable cups- when students don't bring water bottles, it's helpful to have cups so they can still get a drink. Thank you!
