Kindergarten Announcements
*Laps for Lincoln Update: Our class is one of the leaders in our laps for Lincoln collection contest! Because of this, we got some St. Joe Bears donuts from Red Coach Donuts on Friday thank to a generous parent! Keep those donations coming in this week so our class can win the ultimate party!!!!*
ELA
We started our Benchmark curriculum this week by learning to identify the main idea and the supporting details in a nonfiction text. We are thinking of the main idea as a big umbrella and the details as small things under it.
Math
Students continued to develop counting concepts and skills while connecting quantities to the spoken word. They also learned to count and compare up to 10 objects and know the number remains the same no matter how it is arranged.
Writing
We learned and practiced the writing process of “think, picture, say, sketch and write” as we list and label all about one topic.
P2: Purpose
People who possess a sense of purpose believe that they were put on earth for a reason. Kindergarten discussed that we can find purpose through our jobs and had fun sharing what we want to be someday.
Centers
We made pumpkins by tearing paper and gluing, practiced segmenting words into syllables, played a number recognition game, cut and glued to make words, and used our computers.
Science
We began our weather watchers unit this week and learned that it gets warmer in the afternoon and cooler in the morning and evening.
Social Studies:
Students explored their sense of self by discussing different roles they have and things they like about themselves
Mrs. Woodbury was our first guest reader this year!
