ELA
We did our first Reader’s Theater unit this week. We practiced how to read the book "With My Family". We built fluency by echo reading, and listening for speed and pacing while reading. We ended the week by reading our script in parts and reflecting on how we read. We also practiced the high- frequency words for this book. They are on the first page of the word cards that were sent home. Please practice these words at home too!
Math
We counted groups of up to ten images to understand that the order counted does not change the number of images. We then compared groups and identified groups that have more, less, or the same number as a given group of images.
Writing
We worked on writing and answering questions. We practiced making question marks and capitalizing the word “I”.
Social Studies
The kindergarteners explored the concept of time by learning about the past, the present, and the future.
Science
It was so much fun learning about why birds lay their eggs in the spring rather than waiting for the summer or fall.
