These centers change weekly. They focus on cooperation, fine motor skills, letter and sound work, practice with numbers, and themed art  activities.   So far we have played some small group games, practiced graphing and writing letters, explored with patterns, used play-dough, worked on puzzles, matched beginning sounds in words, and practiced counting.  We continue to talk about and work on Daily 5 stamina.   We have made it 14 minutes now during which we quietly   read to self, work on writing, or do word work.    You can help your child increase his or her stamina at home by having them read quietly each day.    Remember ther...

September 18, 2022

What an excellent first  two weeks of Kindergarten!!!  We have been so busy all day long learning new procedures and finding out more about our 26 new friends.  Speaking of new friends... We have two other "teachers" in the classroom besides me! Miss Jasmine Ehlert is with us all day. The kids call her Miss Jasmine. She is here for a specific student but of course she always helps out where and when she can! We are so fortunate to have such a loving, caring person in our room. We also have a high school teacher cadet, Olivia Ippel, who helps out in our class. She is here on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons. The kids call her Miss Olivia and she is another fun, caring adult in our class. We are so fortunate to have so many wonderful teachers in our class.  Here are some things we have been learning about!  September 16, 2022       Kindergarten Announcements ELA We had a great week reading more books about kindergarten.  W...

Party and Field Trip Volunteer List

Below is the schedule of volunteers for our class parties and field trips this year.  I was so happy to see that so many of you wanted to help with our many events!  Please understand that only a limited number of people can help with each event.  I did my best to make sure that everyone who wanted to is able to help with something.   If you are on the list for a party or celebration, the person in charge of that party will contact you a couple of weeks before the party to let you know how you can help.  If you are on the list for a field trip, please watch my blog for the time to be at school on that day.   Also, please remember that younger siblings need to stay at home during these special times because our kindergarteners need our full attention! If you signed up to help in our classroom or to help at home, I will be contacting you via email to set a time to help with class projects, preparing materials, and working with students. ...

I enjoyed meeting so many of you last week! For those of you who were not able to attend, I have linked the slideshow I presented. Please take a look and let me know if you have any questions. Most of this information is also in your child's folder that will come home on the first day of school. Back to School Night Slides   A couple of IMPORTANT notes: 1. Please remember that for this first week of school our Kindergarteners ONLY have a staggered start. If your last name begins with A-K, your child will attend school on Tuesday and Thursday.  If your last name begins with L-Z, your child will attend school on Wednesday and Friday. If you have a conflict please let me know.  2. Before school in the morning, when the bell rings, our Kindergarten students will LINE UP in front of the doors by the playground and I will come out and lead them in. There will be a sign for our class or my name will be on the blacktop to show where to line up. The rest of the students will just...
